Craig Abdilla signs new contract with Mqabba F.C.

We are delighted to announce that our number One, Craig Abdilla has put pen to paper and will be back between the sticks for the 2022/23 campaign.

With a new season on the horizon, Goran Adamavoic has begun his work early to mould the squad for next season in the Challenge League. Our first player to sign on is none other than our last season shot-stopper, Craig Abdilla.

Craig featured in our pre-season game against Kirkop last summer and from that point has been virtually ever-present in the sticks for Mqabba with over 20 appearances.

Craig has signed an extension to his existing contract which keeps him at Mqabba FC for 2022/23.

Executive Committee 2022-2023

During yesterday’s AGM, a new Executive Committee was appointed with Carmel Ellul being re-confirmed as the Club’s President.

Coach Goran Adamovic signs a Contract Extension

Mqabba Football Club can confirm that Mister Goran Adamovic will be Head Coach for season 2022/23.

This will be the third season for the 35 year-old Serbian coach to manage our team. Last season under his guide the team managed to gain 20 points and keep a place in the Challenge League.

In his playing days he was a defender with Red Star Belgrade and was brought to Malta by our club before playing 5 seasons in the Maltese Premier League.

Starting his third season as a coach with the club, Adamovic is looking forward to the opportunity:

“I am really happy and excited staying as Head Coach of Mqabba FC next season. Last season it was really hard but we achieved our goal. I look forward for next season, now is time for working with the team and new players so to make team stronger then last year. We will continue to give chance to young players and try make them better persons and better players.

“I think one of the biggest things for the Club is to develop a culture of everyone pulling in the same direction, and the staff, the players, and the supporters all play a part in that.” We want to build a squad, a Club, that people are proud of and want to watch, and we want to build a team that is enjoyable for them to watch.”

New Signing for Season 2021/2022: Fabrice Hounkpe

Bienvenue à Mqabba, Fabrice 🇧🇯

Mqabba FC are delighted to announce the signing of 21 year old striker Watson Fabrice Hounkpe.

The Benin striker joins our team after starting the season with Msida St Joseph. Fabrice showed his class during his debut with our Youth team, scoring 4 goals in our 4-1 win against Santa Lucia Fc.

Fabrice will be an integral part of our Youth team, boosting our hopes of survival in the Youth League Section B. The promising striker will also be available for selection for the senior side, adding attacking options to Coach Adamovic.

The experienced defender joins our team after starting the season with St Georges. Jesmar made his full debut in our win aganst Melita, producing a rock-solid performance!

New Signing for Season 2021/2022: Ronald Makalysten Melo Costa

Mqabba FC is delighted to announce the signing of Brazilian striker Ronald Makalysten Melo Costa.

Ronald is still 21 years old and this will be his first experience outside of Brazil. In fact, he is a product of Moto Club de São Luís and last season he made his debut with the first team.

New Signing for Season 2021/2022: Arsene Rye Cilia Mumford

Arsene Rye Cilia Mumford joins Mqabba FC on a contract until the end of the season. This after playing for Vittoriosa Stars last season.

Mumford, 22, is a former Tarxien Rainbows FC player, where he made his Premier League debut.

This apart from playing for Sliema Wanderers FC, Hibernians F.C. and Pieta ‘Hotspurs FC in youth categories.

New Signing for Season 2021/2022: Craig Abdilla

We welcome back Craig Abdilla!

Abdilla, who has played for the national under-17 and under-19 national teams, has had experiences in the Challenge League with Swieqi United and Qrendi.

This will be the second spell for the 21 year old goalkeeper with the club. Two years ago, he was also part of our senior team and won the Section C title with the minors team.
